In 1978, Esco was founded to provide clean air solutions for the emerging high-tech industrial and life sciences industries. At that time, Esco pioneered the development of clean air technology in Southeast Asia by designing and constructing the region's first cleanroom - an environment in which airborne particulates are minimized by constant filtration in order to prevent product contamination. It is widely acknowledged that Esco was ultimately instrumental in the development of clean air technology in the rest of Southeast Asia.
During those early years, our expertise with clean air technology was applied towards the construction of laminar flow clean air devices. Biological Safety cabinets and fume hoods were designed and manufactured during the early 1980s, expanding the company's scope in the field of containment technology. That same period also saw the first exports of locally developed and proven clean air technology by Esco. In 1985, in-house sheet metal fabrication capabilities were established.
By the late 1980s and 1990s, Esco was engaged in a wide range of businesses related to clean air technology - from cleanroom facility construction, cleanroom garment manufacturing, cleanroom consumables, to the manufacturing of clean air devices. Many of these businesses were eventually divested as part of strategic shift towards clean air device manufacturing.
Today, the company is structured into 5 distinct business divisions, all of which lie in the field of clean air and containment equipment technology: Biotechnology Equipment, Fume Filtration Equipment, Fume Hoods, Cleanroom Construction Components and Cleanroom Equipment.
